US lawmaker moves to block lawsuits against AI data centers

This bill aims to limit environmental lawsuits that delay building permits for data centers and AI infrastructure. In practice, residents and advocacy groups who challenge a project in court would lose much of their room to maneuver. Washington State Sets New Rules for Companion Chatbots and AI-Generated Content

Two laws take effect in the state in 2027. One requires safety guardrails for companion chatbots; the other mandates disclosure when content is AI-generated. Following California and Colorado, a third state is now setting its own rules while Washington DC pushes for a single federal standard.
