Until now, catching liver fibrosis early meant a biopsy or expensive imaging, so many patients slipped through the cracks. This AI reads cell-free DNA fragments in the blood and picks up on signs of liver disease before symptoms appear. It's the first time this fragmentomics technique, originally developed for cancer detection, has been applied to a chronic non-cancer disease.
